Wereldlichtjesdag

World Lights Day

Every year on the second Sunday in December at 7 p.m. lights, candles are lit all over the world for deceased children, no matter how small or large.
Preceded by the beautiful son 'Precious Child' sung by Karen Taylor-Good, the 'mother candle' is lit and all those people who have come (to many places in the Netherlands) can see the website of www.wereldlichtjesdag.nl turn on their candle for their dead child.

For the past four years, I was allowed to join as one of the volunteers at World Light Day in Park Berg & Bos in Apeldoorn. With a beautifully well-oiled team, lights have been lit for all the children who are so missed for 10 years.

Special ritual

In recent years there has also been a theme within the loss, and together with others I was allowed to set up a loving program for the children who were there that evening. Brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or friends of the deceased children. together with the children we experienced a special ritual for the deceased brother or sister and then we made something beautiful in memory of this evening.

For example, we were allowed to symbolically redesign "a broken heart" or create a light that symbolized each child, which has its own color and sound. Or literally learn sorrow symbolically woven into your daily life dress.
